What a pity?

Jamhuriyat tarje wah huqumat hai ki jismain;
Bandon ko gina karte hain, taula nahi karte.

Till the time I was in class nine, this used to be a frequently used couplet in the essays written by me during exams (Never thought why elections are such a frequent entry there, both in Hindi as well as English literature). If you are not a Hindi speaking junta, don’t expect me to translate it in English (hehehehe). Again coming to the reservation issue, I am having one point, which is very simple to understand; but I don’t understand the reason why many people don’t want to understand this. The logic goes like..

If a person from a reserved category (regardless of any particular one like SC, ST or OBS) avails the reservation and get in to financial condition so that he can support his children, educate them and prepare them for the real life; then in my opinion his next generation should not avail the reservation. But the real life situation is quite different. Even if a person becomes an IAS officer, his children are getting the benefit of
reservation. So are we assuming that even an IAS officer can’t support his children? Are we assuming that a person from supposedly backward society can’t raise his children in spite of having all the necessary amenities?

No we are no more living in 1950’s. Even then Mr. Ambedkar had visualized this fact and restricted this reservation only for twenty years. But our politicians don’t seem to be planning for a long term vibrant and opulent India of equal opportunities.That’s my way of thinking about reservation. But as numbers governs this democracy, sometime the qualitative part is neglected and looks like this time exactly same thing is happening. Moreover this time even numbers are being extrapolated from a census carried out in early thirties.

What a pity.

  1. Oh nice argument!

    But, don't you think that if they have been troubled for some 1000 years by so called forward castes, so they must get reservation for some 100 yrs..

    Think over it! ;)

    When upper caste was the ruler, we didn't question; But when they get the chance, we start railing... Earlier ye hukumat upper caste ki thi, now numbers are in their favour...

    No matter what kind of goverment is, some communities enjoy and some suffer!! This is almost a rule..
    :)
    so, cheer up and enjoy the game..

    Haha..

  2. I kinda agree to your point. But you have to agree that previously there was no democracy (Which exists today in some form). Also giving the reservation blindly to some particular community is not going to serve the very purpose of equality.

    And if the motive behind all this is to just take the revenge, then this should be highlighted properly rather than giving it a hypothetical name of equality.
